Los Silos

This is a totally unspoiled and very quiet part of Tenerife. There are no hotels or holiday complexes, hence the only nightlife is centred around a few local bars and restaurants. “The Mundial Restaurant” is on the sea front, and it’s speciality is locally caught fresh fish and also mouth-watering steaks, at very reasonable prices.

In the village you will find several shops, the bank & Post Office in the small streets and alleyways. In the centre there are several bars one of which is pictured opposite, and an excellent coffee shop and patisserie. In the village square there is a lovely church and from there you can follow the pathways up through the Banana Plantations to the “Lost Village” with spectacular views, amazing vegetation, flowers and wildlife. This is a paradise for walkers and photographers. The pool is near Olympic size and has lounging areas with restaurant and bar attached. It is open to the public and costs just €3 per day. In the background you can see Mount Teide the highest point on the island, it’s peak being covered in snow most of the year. It is a fabulous place to visit passing through pine forests and Lunar Landscape up to the cable car which will take you to the summit. NASA used this area for training some of its astronauts for the Moon Landings
